Description

Striped Series Side Table is made of solid white oak and comprised of three sections.  A bottom and top which are turned and carved that are connected to a center post through a mortise and tenon.  The center section is center turned, masked and painted.  The bottom is turned from 2-inch material and then the edges are shaped.  This is part of a larger series of work entitled Striped Series.

Strips are a favorite design aesthetic of mine that shows up frequently in my work.   In 2016 I had the opportunity to show at the Nan Miller Gallery in Rochester, NY.  Accordingly the Striped Series Coffee Table, Striped Series Side Table and Egypt II were part of a gallery show.  The Rochester Democrat & Chronicle wrote an article on it which can be viewed here.  https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/lifestyle/2016/03/18/nan-miller-goes-into-woods-wood-inspired-show/81907424/.  This table features V8/4 solid white oak that is constructed with 4″ round tenons that were epoxied into the mortises.  Very stout and durable and last for 100 years.  Wikipedia defines durability as the following “durability of a physical product to remain functional with maintenance”.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durability
