Jazz inspired lamp series was part of the my masters thesis at the Rochester Institute of Technology. While at R.I.T.’s school for American Crafts “Jazz as Inspiration” was the basis for my thesis work. With no copyright infringement; Jazz Inspired Original Lamp was designed from a Benny Goodman tune entitled “don’t be that way”. With the help of John Beck who was the head of percussion at the prestigious Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. I learned how to dissect a jazz tune to isolating the musical elements so they could directly apply to my furniture. Once the musical parts were separate categories they were individually studied to transform them into basic design elements. Once the design elements were identified; they directly transfer into the basic design elements of the lamps.
