Scalloped Floor Lamp Species Unkown

Among the Unique Hand Made Lamps exists the Scalloped Floor Lamp.  This orange and pink toned wood is amazingly dense and vibrant.  This unknown wood species is paired with wenge and a beautiful antique scalloped shade.  Another example of this pinkish orange wood can be seen in a smaller unique handmade floor lamp entitled Pin Striped Floor Lamp.  The whole premise of this design revolves around the shape of the shade; a large round diameter scalloped shape.

Description

The whole premise of this design revolves around the shape of the shade, a large round diameter scalloped shape.   According to Wikipedia Scalloping is a term that refers to the shaping of a fret board of a guitar.  It also refers to the mollusk a type of clam and in particular to the scallops that are visible on the shell.  In this design the shape of the shade dictates the form and shape of the lamp body.

The body of this unique handmade lamp is a reaction to the shape of the shade.  This Scalloped Lamp is very graceful and refined.  Made near Erie, Pa The overall dimensions of the Scalloped Floor lamp are 20″x 20″x 88″ which makes this unique handmade lamp stand out.    The parts of this lamp consist of a base, shade support and two main vertical structures.  All parts of this Scalloped Floor Lamp were  put together with round mortise and tenons.

This is a large and imposing lamp that is gracefully, elegant and sophisticated.  This lamp throws a scalloped shade around the room which is fun.  In any lighting project you essentially get 2 pieces in on when the light is off and then again when it turned on.
